Merit Badge Counselor Update

posted Jan 29, 2014, 7:01 PM by Council Web Team   [ updated Feb 14, 2014, 4:14 PM ]
Effectively immediately, adults that are already registered in a paid Scouting position are no longer required to complete a separate Adult Application when applying to be a Merit Badge Counselor.  The only form that needs to be turned in is a Merit Badge Counselor Application Form.  An Adult Application and the Merit Badge Counselor Application Form is still required for adults that are not in a registered Scouting position to become Merit Badge Counselor.
As a reminder, Scoutmasters are the approving authority, via the MB Blue Card, for youth to begin working on a Merit Badge.  Scoutmasters may approve the use of a non-registered MB counselor as needed for expertise or knowledge on the subject, but must also ensure youth protection policies are adhered to and understood by the Merit Badge Counselor.
