FEC Announces 2016 Silver Beaver Recipients!
David Ingebretsen – Currently serves as Troop Committee Chairman Troop 101, Pack Committee Member (Treasurer) Pack 1, Asia Central District Vice Chairman, and Council Executive Board Member of Far East Council. If that is not enough, David was excited and honored to attend the 2015 World Scout Jamboree as an Assistant Scoutmaster with the FEC contingent. In addition, he is proud to have served as Program Director for Far East Council’s Camp Dagon held in Okinawa Japan during spring of 2015. Leading to his selection as Scoutmaster for the FEC Contingent to National Scout Jamboree in 2017 at the Summit Bechtel Reserve. Most Notably, David has been recognized with the Saint George Emblem by the Archdiocese of the Military Services for outstanding service in the spiritual development of Catholic youth in the program of the Boy Scouts of America.
Dennis Bishop – Troop 1 Hong Kong: Dennis started a Boy Scout Troop 204, a troop dedicated to Scout’s with Special Needs. He was first Scoutmaster for this troop which is located in Oregon and is part of Pioneer District, Pacific Cascade Council – this example is only a sample of the servant leadership Dennis has given over the years not only to Pacific Cascade Council but also Direct Service Council (DSC) and Far East Council (FEC). Dennis, along with several other adults in the DSC/FEC established Far East Camporee’s in Chiang Mai, Thailand, Kathmandu, Nepal and Ulaan Batar, Mongolia. Dennis was instrumental to the success of these high-adventure camporees paving the way for the migration of DSC to FEC.
Alex Siegel – Currently serving on the Executive Board as Vice President Finance living in Manila, Philippines - Alex’s dedication to Scouting in general, and to the work and continued excellence of the Far East Council and its ability to provide meaningful programs to the Council Youth, is both impressive and exemplary. What makes Alex’s dedication all the more impressive and remarkable, however, is the fact that Alex does not have, and has never had, a son or daughter in Scouting. Everything Alex does – whether for Units, the District, the Council (Nominating Committee, Strategic Development Committee, Eagle Board of Review Committee), or the Order of the Arrow (Founding member of the Luzon Clan) – he does because he believes in Scouting and the benefits that Scouting brings to Youth.
Ken Nakai – Currently serving as the International Chairman on the Far East Council Executive Board for as long as anyone can remember. Beyond his service on the FEC board, Ken serves as the Chairman of the Great Okinawa Scouting Committee (GOSC), although this is inside Scouting, his contributions go far above normal activity to strengthen the council’s friendship with the Scout Association of Japan. Ken is consistent with his leadership always delivering the communications newsletter “Look Wide” featuring both BSA and SAJ information. His translation skills has helped both with the the newsletter and on Wood Badge staff along with visits by the SAJ to FEC's spring resident camps, Scout Shop visits, and other council and district exchange venues.
Congratulations to the Recipients!
